Summer Street Soccer Program
The MVSC Street Soccer Program is an opportunity for recreational players to play games in the indoor facility in a relaxed setting, with an option to attend a Technical Skills Session 30 minutes prior to each game with new Youth Program Director: Ross Hopkins. Technical Sessions will introduce age appropriate skill sets such as ball mastery, 1v1 moves to beat an opponent, ball striking, escape from pressure moves, and more! Following the 30 minute Technical Skills Sessions, players will be divided into teams and assigned a field to play, and will play with a futsal ball (as opposed to a normal soccer ball). There will be limited coaching and no officiating for the games. We want to create an environment for the players to take risks and show creativity without fear of failing, losing, or being yelled out by a coach. No scores will be kept from games and there will be no league standings.
Soccer in the United States has often been criticized for lack of flare and imagination. Experts believe this is so because youth soccer is too structured and influenced too heavily by adults. There is little to no pick up soccer or “street soccer” happening in our country, where kids just get together and play. Too often our youth players need a coach or a scheduled practice to play. At MVSC, we want players to choose soccer over other hobbies because they enjoy the game. We are confident our Street Soccer Program will help increase players’ passion for the game.) Further details and registration will be available soon!
MVSC Total Technique Program
This program is designed to give youth players within the area a chance to come inside the MVSC Indoor Facility to work on the technical skills that each player needs in order to be successful as a soccer player. The program will focus on individual ball control and give players the tools needed from a technical standpoint to excel in the sport. This Program will last for one hour each week, and offer flexible registration for multiple age groups. Individuals can purchase a booklet of (for example: 8) coupons, which can be used on (for example: 8 of 10 sessions) offered throughout the Summer. This program is unique in that it allows players, families, or teams, to share a coupon booklet purchased and not worry about missing sessions as a result of the summer holiday. Further details and registration will be available as of April 8th, 2013!
