The Spring Mini is a recreational soccer opportunity for players ages 2-13. All players 5-13 will have practice options Monday thru Friday and will come back and play games on Saturday monrings or early afternoons. Saturday practice options for 3 and 4 year olds are at a discounted price as they will only be meeting 3 times in the session, as opposed to 4 for all other practice options.

NO PRACTICES HELD FRIDAY, MAY 6TH (OAKS DAY) AND NO GAMES/PRACTICES HELD SATURDAY, MAY 7TH (DERBY DAY)!

In this session, we look to improve skills by getting players on the ball as often as possible, using small sided games to give players opportunities to showcase learned skills and try new ones as well. Of course, our number one goal is to have fun!

League Rules:

All registartions are taken on a "First Come, First Serve" policy. Preference is given to those teams who are playing in the current session as long as they register by deadline date.
Games are played 6 v 6. Rosters are unlimited.
The minimum age to participate in the Adult League is 18 years of age.
All team members must have matching colored T-shirts or jerseys & must be worn at all times.
Flat-soled shoes are required. No cleats please.
Any player deemed to be under the influence of alcohol and /or drugs will not be allowed to play.

Mockingbird Valley Sports Complex is pleased to announce the continuation of Louisville’s most popular soccer leagues with its Spring Session for recreational players who range between the ages of 18 months old - 13 years old! The MVSC Youth Recreational Soccer League is among our most popular programs, helping MVSC become Louisville’s Leader in recreational soccer! MVSC is proud to offer only the finest coaching and instruction to all players within its Youth Program, as each MVSC coach is required to have soccer background. At MVSC, parents can enjoy watching children expand their passion and knowledge of the game as we follow a curriculum that is second to none and break children into age groups where success is constantly within reach; and our state-of-the-art indoor facility and lighting provide a great place to play no matter the weather.

The 2011 Spring Recreational session runs from March 14th - April 30th and will include 6 practice sessions and 6 games (NO PRACTICE APRIL 4TH - APRIL 8TH AND NO GAMES WILL BE HELD ON APRIL 9TH). At MVSC, we offer multiple practice day/time choices for all age groups throughout the week. Because of the popularity of our leagues, we ask that customers select two (2) practice days/times that are most convenient for you when registering, as MVSC cannot guarantee that the first choice can always be met.

93 BOYS & ST. XAVIER HS STANDOUT NAMED GATORADE® KENTUCKY BOYS SOCCER PLAYER OF THE YEAR

CHICAGO (February 23, 2011) — In its 26th year of honoring the nation’s best high school athletes, The Gatorade Company, in collaboration with ESPN RISE, today announced Oliver Brown of St. Xavier High School as its 2010-11 Gatorade Kentucky Boys Soccer Player of the Year. Brown is the third Gatorade Kentucky Boys Soccer Player of the Year to be chosen from St. Xavier High School.

The award, which recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field, distinguishes Brown as Kentucky’s best high school boys soccer player. Now a finalist for the prestigious Gatorade National Boys Soccer Player of the Year award to be announced in May, Brown joins an elite alumni association of past state award-winners in 12 sports, including Alexi Lalas (1987-88, Cranbrook HS, Mich.), Derek Jeter (1991-92, Kalamazoo HS, Mich.), Candace Parker (2001-02, Naperville Central HS, Ill.), Kevin Garnett (1992-93, Maudlin HS, S.C.), Tony Meola (1986-87, Kearney HS, N.J.) and Mark Sanchez (2004-05, Mission Viejo HS, Calif.).

The 6-foot-2 senior goalkeeper posted eight shutouts and a 0.40 goals-against average this past season, leading the Tigers (19- 4-2) to the state tournament round of 16. A 2010 National Soccer Coaches Association of America Scholar All-American, Brown is a two-time First Team All-State selection. Brown concluded his prep soccer career with three state championships and 26 shutouts.

Brown has maintained a 3.74 GPA in the classroom. He has volunteered locally at a food bank, as a youth soccer instructor and on behalf of Habitat for Humanity.

“Oliver Brown physically is a monster,” said Jonathan Velotta, Brown’s club coach with Mockingbird Valley. “He’s got great hands, everything sticks to him. He’s terrific out in the air. He makes some saves that you don’t see a goalkeeper make, especially around here.”

Brown has signed a National Letter of Intent to play soccer on scholarship at the University of Denver this fall.

The Gatorade Player of the Year program annually recognizes one winner in the District of Columbia and each of the 50 states that sanction high school football, girls volleyball, boys and girls cross country, boys and girls basketball, boys and girls soccer, baseball, softball, and boys and girls track & field, and awards one National Player of the Year in each sport. The selection process is administered by ESPN RISE and the Gatorade high school sports leadership team, which work with top sport- specific experts and a media advisory board of accomplished, veteran prep sports journalists to determine the state winners in each sport.

Brown joins recent Gatorade Kentucky Boys Soccer Players of the Year Lepe Seetane (2009-10, Trinity), and two-time winner Kevin Bick (2008-09 & 2007-08, St. Xavier) among the state’s list of former award winners.

Mockingbird's Emily Mintman (Girls '93) selected as the WHAS/Vype Magazine Athlete of the Month for January 2011

Congratulations to MVSC’s own Emily Mintman for being selected as the WHAS/Vype Magazine Athlete of the Month for January. Her story was featured on a recent WHAS newscast: http://www.whas11.com/hs-game-time/AOM0111-114978654.html.

At MVSC Emily is a member of the 1993 Premier Girls Team (U18) that most recently advanced to the semi-finals of the US Youth Soccer Region II Championship. Along with her coaching responsibilities in the Mockingbird Valley Soccer Club rec program, Emily is also preparing with her teammates to compete in the Midwest Regional League (MRL) Premier Division.

Mockingbird Valley’s Emma Brown Wins Kentucky Girls Player of the Year

Mockingbird Valley Soccer Club would like to congratulate Emma Brown, a member of the 93 Girls team, on being named Kentucky Youth Soccer Girls Player of the Year. Brown is currently a senior at Manual High School and is verbally committed to attend the University of Kentucky in the fall of 2011. She is one of Kentucky’s most decorated players. Brown has been on the Kentucky State ODP team since 2005 and was selected to the Region II team in 2008, 2009, and 2010. Brown was recently named to the list of “Players to Watch” by Topdrawersoccer.com.

As a high school standout, Brown has been a four year starter for Manual, named to the All-State 1^st Team in 2008 and 2009, and selected to the NSCAA/Adidas High School Girls All-Region IV Team in 2008 and 2009. During the past club season, Brown helped the MVSC 93 Girls win their second consecutive State Cup and reach the semi-finals at the 2010 Region II Championships in Dayton, OH.

The 93 Girls were the first team in MVSC history to win its group and reach the region semi-finals.
