PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Ryan SmithRyan Smith was hired in November 2008 and serves as our Lacrosse Program Director for all ages. He started the lacrosse program from scratch and since his arrival the program has done nothing but grow.

Ryan moved to Louisville in 1996, where he grew up playing soccer, basketball, football and lacrosse and was an all-state midfielder at TrinityHigh School.  His senior year he helped lead Trinity to its first state title in 2004. He played for the first select-travel team “Derby City Lacrosse” for three years. He played two years of collegiate lacrosse at BellarmineUniversity, a Division One program located in Louisville, Kentucky. Ryan also played a role in the start of University of Louisville club program, starting two seasons for the Cardinals. Ryan also coached Louisville Collegiate for one year helping take the program to new heights in reaching the state semi-finals.
 
Ryan is a certified lacrosse referee and is currently in his third season of referring lacrosse in Kentucky and Tennessee.  Ryan moved on to WesternKentuckyUniversity where he was a stand out player on the rugby team. Ryan led the schools conference in scoring and was named most valuable player.

Currently Ryan runs all lacrosse programs at Mockingbird and reffs lacrosse in the Kentucky area. Ryan is a camp counselor at some of Kentucky’s most premier summer camps including, Rock Steady, Gamebreaker and Mockingbird camps for all ages. Ryan is also a member of Team Tuggy and has played for Makers Mark Lacrosse. Ryan looks forward to modeling the successful soccer program into lacrosse which includes bringing a select indoor and outdoor team to Mockingbird. He eventual would like to bring professional lacrosse to our state of the art facility.
